Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi is merely the fourth President of the Bradesco Bank. The company has a culture of employing top executive positions from within its ranks.
Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi was more than an executive at the Bradesco Company; he embodied the culture of the mythical dynasty. He was born in Marilia, Sao Paulo, which was the pioneer location of Bradesco Bank.
He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of St. Paul, with post-graduate studies in Social Psychology at the Foundation School of Sociology and Politics of Sao Paulo. He began working at the bank in 1969, at the age of 18. He served in various positions within the Bradesco Bank ever since until his presidential nomination. In 1984, he was the marketing director of Bradesco Pension Company.
In 1998, he became the executive managing director and a year on he was promoted to Vice President of Bradesco Seguros. Through his management, he got a promotion to become President of Bradesco Seguros, until his appointment to President of Bradesco Bank in 2009.

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi’s management style was close to that of the legendary founding President Amador Aguiar. He believed in organic growth of the company. Since his installment as the president, the bank increased its account holders from 20 million to 27 million. The company also increased the number of branches from 3500 to about 5000. The close monitoring of developmental data, which is the organic management style, that was in Amador management style. In addition to this technique, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi gave special attention to the most traditional practices and culture of the banking service that is among other practices direct contact with clients. Though they do not revert to profitability, it brings the client to trust the bank.
The recent resignation of the long-serving Board of Directors’ Chairman, Lazaro Brandao from Bradesco, has triggered the recruitment for his replacement. The company will reportedly announce the replacement in March 2018. Until then, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi will take the place of Lazaro Brandao as Chairman of the Board of Directors while Carlos Alberto Rodrigues Guilherme will be the Vice-President of the Board of Directors. The tradition of replacing executive replacements in Bradesco is by selecting from within its ranks. Therefore, the future replacement is expected to come from one of seven current vice presidents of the various conglomerates of the Bradesco institution.
The company age-restriction policy for CEOs in Bradesco Bank was extended during the Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi Presidency to 67 years for two reasons. One was to keep the HBSC integration process, which happened after Bradesco bought the company in 2015, and the slow transition of the changes in the Chairman post that Lazaro Brandao had hinted before his resignation.
The company has 14 million account holders who use digital transactions out of 27 million; therefore, the next President of Bradesco Bank will no doubt have some challenges with acquiring the bank customers who are illiterate in the digital transaction age.
