Wild Ark – article recap

As a wild life enthusiast and founder of Wild Ark, Mark Hutchinson dedicates his life to the greater good of the wild. Australia being his home country, Hutchinson grew up engaging in outdoor activities including crawling his little body through wombat holes and mustering sheep for fun as well as having full access to the Outbacks of Australia.

By the short age of 19 right after high school, Mark traveled to Africa by car. At age 22 Mark established a company called UNTAMED. Inspired by his amazing travel and adventuring experiences, UNTAMED later evolved into Avana, an ecotourism and training business. Unfortunately the business failed in 2013. Continuing to follow his dreams, in 2015 Hutchinson left the corporate world and established Wild Ark: a business which its ultimate goal is to protect and maintain the world’s most fragile ecosystems.

Fueled by adventure and the desire for fun was what motivated Hutchinson to want to start his very own adventure company. After obtaining his Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Sydney, Mark started his own training company, the one he had dreamed of from an early age. The purpose of Mark’s first training company, UNTAMED, was to connect people with nature. Despite of what ever social class people come from, Mark believed that nature made everyone equal because everyone has one nature to become one with. From UNTAMED, Mark gained knowledge in the art of ecotourism, management, and conservation.

In 2005, Mark met his business partner, Anton Lategan. Both shared a passion for the desire of helping people gain a connection with nature. As the owner of EcoTraining, Lategan presented Mark a great opportunity and opened for him the world of training and wilderness adventure.

With greater knowledge in the business world, Mark traveled back to Australia and rebranded the company Avana. The business shortly failed after growing into a business of hospitality and retail leaving eco-training and eco-tourism behind.

The idea for Wild Ark sparked when Mark realized that conserving the land globally is extremely important. This will help man kind and our future development as a species. Wild Ark buys land for the conservation of the ecosystems in it.

Mark’s ultimate goal is to get people to reconnect with the wild. He believes we all have it in us, we just have to try harder.
